Quick Guide to Becoming a Participant in a Secure Closing
Updated over 2 weeks ago

Step 1: Create an Account or Log In

If this is your first time, you'll receive an email inviting you to the closing. Follow the prompts to create an account or log in.

Step 2: Follow the Flashing Icons

The flashing icons will guide you through the process of setting up your account. Start by clicking the flashing icon to proceed.

Step 3: Add Your Bank Details

Enter your bank details, which will only be visible to the participants sending money. No one else will have access to this information.

Important: Your bank details are encrypted and securely stored by a Nationally Chartered Bank directly connected to the Federal Reserve, not on Basefund’s servers or locally.

Step 4: Confirm Your Bank Details

Make sure your routing, account, address, and beneficiary details are accurate. If you're unsure, contact your bank or investment fund for clarification.

Note: Some banks use different routing numbers for various transfers (e.g., ACH vs. wire transfers).

Step 5: Adding Investment Accounts (OBI/Instructions)

For investment accounts, ensure the OBI (Originating Beneficiary Information) or beneficiary details are included in the wire instructions. Contact your investment fund/pool for assistance if needed.

Important: Missing or incorrect OBI or beneficiary information could cause a wire to fail.

Step 6: Verify the Account

After entering your bank details, click Get Verified to initiate a micro-deposit. This deposit will be sent instantly during working hours.

You'll receive a verification email with a link to confirm the deposit amount. You can also verify by logging into Basefund.

Below is what it looks like when you log into BaseFund to get verified.

Step 7: Confirm the Micro-Deposit

Although the micro-deposit is sent instantly, it may take a few minutes or hours to show up in your bank account, depending on how your bank handles wires. Enter the exact deposit amount to verify your account.

Here is an example of what the transfer could look like at your bank.

Step 8: Account Successfully Added

Once verified, you'll receive a confirmation message. Your account is now successfully added to Basefund.

Step 9: Assign the Account to the Closing

After verifying, you must assign the account to the closing.

Tip: You need to assign an account for each secure closing, so ensure you select the correct account every time.

Step 10: Assign the Account to the Closing

Once you have added and/or verified, you need to assign the account to the closing.

You will need to assign an account for every Securing Closing. This is a common mistake; make certain to select which account you want to use every time.

You can add and verify multiple accounts for different purposes, and once verified, you can reuse these accounts for future closings.

🎉 Congratulations! You’re Ready to Close! 🎉
